history;; samantha was born but not raised in the town of truro in cornwall, england. she lived there for two years with her parents and her fathers parents before her father finally got a good enough job in london, where she and her parents and her new sister moved. the fivesome, her mom having given birth to a boy three years after the move, lived a happy fourteen years there. but a few months after samantha turned sixteen, her grandfather passed away from lung cancer.
samantha had always been close with her grandfather and his death influenced her immensely. the most important one was music. she remembered how he'd sing and play during the campfire songs when they would go camping over the summer and the way he'd introduced her to the songs he listened to when he was her age. not wanting to follow directly in his footsteps, she took up the bass and as she got older, branched out into the guitar.
samantha wasn't the only one influenced by her grandfather. devastated by the loss of her husband, her grandmother became depressed and started to drink more than usual. her family wasted no time in moving back to truro to take care of her. it didn't seem to be much help, for her grandmother just seemed to get worse. not being able to take it anymore, samantha jumped at the chance to move to the states and get away. after meeting the girls of broken toy soldiers, she knew she had made the right choice.
FOLLOW my LEAD;;
secret phrase;; 'it's not a party if it happens every night'
your OTHER work;;
it's from a harry potter rp, hence the wands, divination, etc. '----' separates posts & italic wasn't written by me.
Katie wandered into the forest, her wand illuminating her way. She'd just come from divination, the class she hated the most. She didn't get the point of it. When would she ever need to 'see the future', which really just sounded like a load of bullshit to her. Once deep enough in, she looked for the overturned tree she usually occupied. Ever since her first year she'd been sneaking into the forest. Not many people came there and it was a nice place to get away and draw.
When she found it, Katie pulled some parchment and a quill out of her robes and sat down. She stuck her wand into the dirt close to her, lighting up her parchment and a small section of the ground. Bringing her quill to the parchment, she began to trace the plants that she could see.
Katie was finally starting to relax when she heard footsteps coming from behind her. She quickly put out her wand, hoping it wasn't a teacher that she'd heard.
The footsteps got louder right after Katie put out her light. Whoever it was that was out there had definitely seen her. She bit her lip, contemplating whether or not to run. If it was another student, it wouldn't matter, but a teacher...
Katie looked down at the ground and cursed under her breath at the sight of well, nothing. Without the light from her wand the forest was pitch black and Katie guessed that she wouldn't have even been able to see her hand in front of her face. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a glow breaking up the darkness. She pulled her belongings close to her chest and stood up. It was now or never. Her right foot was about to move forward when she heard a voice.
"Wait!" it called.
Katie shrieked as her things fell to the ground.
"I`m sorry, did I scare you?"
She shook her head and laughed at herself when she realized he couldn't see her yet.
"No, just caught me off guard," She told him. "But it probably didn't help that I thought you were a teacher."
"Because every teacher loves strolling around in the darkness," he said. "You don`t really have to worry that much you know, in this part of the forest.
"Hey, you never know who could be out here," Katie teased, kneeling down to pick up her stuff. "But yeah, I guess you're right."
She stood back up and looked back over at the light. It was almost as endless as the darkness and was shining incredibly bright. Despite this, it was still only able to outline the shape of a boy. Judging by the size of the figure, Katie assumed he was her age or older.
"If you don`t mind me asking," He began,"What were you doing out here?"
"Oh, uh..," Katie laughed. "I was drawing. That sounds kinda weird doesn't it? I mean, it's so dark out here and there's always the grounds or the courtyard. But there's just something about it...it's more natural and, well it's kinda calming out here, no?"
"But I'm rambling," She told him. "I'm Katie."
